Celebrate Music Series 2016 @ Brookline Library

Celebrate Music Series – ArtsBrookline 2016
This series is a new offering for Arts Brookline this year, and will bring a spectrum of musical performances to Hunneman Hall.  The performances will be taped and broadcasted by Brookline Interactive Group. All shows are free to the public and refreshments will be served. Performances are scheduled for 4/23, 5/7. 5/22. 6/2, and 6/11.  A range of music will be performed including classical, jazz, country, pop, and rock.  Watch the Arts Brookline schedule at artsbrookline.org for details as they are updated.

Tom Rubenoff_David Patrick perform jazz & blues from the upcoming album “Notes from the Spirit”

At 1 pm Tom Rubenoff on trombone and vocals and David Patrick on guitar will present their new album, “Notes from the Spirit”, original music rooted in jazz, blues and Latin music.  Tom has been writing and performing poetry and music for about half a century.  Since moving to Boston a few years after college, Tom has played jazz, swing, salsa, Sousa marches, blues, liturgical music, pop covers, Klezmer and music for theatrical productions, composing and arranging for a variety of instrumental and vocal ensembles. Tom currently plays with the Klezmer band, Too Klez For Comfort, the cover band, Unclaimed Freight, the Shabbos band at Temple Ohabei Shalom, and he has been known to sit in with The Winiker Jazz Trio and the Tracy Clark trio from time to time.

Refreshments will be available during a short intermission.

Starting at 2:10 pm, Mierlita will play.  This delightful group made up of fiddlers Jon Cannon and Abigale Reisman, both students of Lautari master violinist Marin Bunea, bring a contemporary perspective to a full traditional repertoire alongside guitarist Sasha Kern and upright bassist Kirsten Lamb.
