Solo exhibition by Boston University School of Visual Arts lecturer and Painting Fellow Aaron Norfolk. Norfolk uses physically rendered figures, rich color, linear edges, and faceted surfaces to create volumetric, frame-filling characters that engage in mythic storylines. These dynamic large-scale paintings and prints focus on the narrative interaction of characters that feel classically scaled. Flattened outlines and prismatic surfaces push and pull pictorial space, and add urgency to emphatic interchanges that Norfolk silhouettes against a range of backgrounds.
