KATIE HIGGINS-WHITE & NINA BERINSTEIN
A night of art and live music to celebrate these local artists and the expansion of the Middle Gray gallery!
Fallen Leaves – Katie Higgins-White
Born in Boise, Idaho, Katie graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington with a B.A. in Art (concentrating in bookmaking and printmaking) and French Literature. Her first college book arts class was her initial inspiration for pursuing art as a subject of study, which she has continued ever since. In 2010, she moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to pursue a Master’s in Art Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She now lives in Watertown, Massachusetts where, in addition to creating her own art, she also acts as the atelierista (or Studio Teacher) at the Reggio-Emilia-inspired Peabody Terrace Children’s Center in Cambridge. Her artist books are in private and public collections on both the West and East coast, including the Waskowmium in Vermont and the University of Washington Library.
Cysters – Nina Berinstein
Nina Berinstein is a maker, drawer and observer of things. After completing undergraduate studies in ceramics and arts-
based education at Bennington College, she has migrated back to Boston, MA where she grew up. Nina has recently exhibited work in the Usdan Gallery and Fiddlehead Gallery, both in Bennington, VT, as well as CraftBoston’s annual juried Holiday Show. Nina is currently a teaching assistant at the Harvard Ceramics Program in Allston, MA where she continues her studio practice. Curious by the organic forms around her, she is compelled to create in order to digest her surroundings and further understand them. Nina eagerly awaits her next artistic venture which will take place in September when she boards the Clearwater Sloop as a crew-member; sailing up and down the Hudson River hauling sails and working as an educator in the onboard classroom.
